My name is Sara Penninga, and I passionately create through all of my senses, which allows me to develop a deep and intimate relationship with my chosen materials as well as the unique processes they inspire. Currently, I collect a variety of wild vines, bark, and other natural materials, in addition to plastic debris and trash, all of which I transform into both original and traditional basket designs. My artistic journey encompasses a wide range of practices, including fabric sculpture, processing and spinning fiber, knitting, crocheting, painting, drawing, and ceramics, all of which have brought me immense delight and joy. Over the past 25 years, I have had the pleasure of teaching art and craft to individuals with a curious sense of creativity and those whose hands are longing to learn the various techniques involved.
